- Medieval Doune Castle, home of Monty Python's Holy Grail
- Sail on the elegant Victorian steamship SS Walter Scott

Stirling Castle is arguably Scotland's finest castle. Sitting atop a steep crag in a strategic position between the Highlands, the Lowlands and the west and eat coasts Stirling has been the centre of some of Scotland's most dramatic historical events: the famous and triumphant battles of independence won by William Wallace 'Braveheart' and Robert the Bruce, the coronation of Mary Queen of Scots, political strife, murder and intrigue.
Its beautifully intact renaissance architecture is testimony to the long residency of the Stuart monarchy and the castle a great location to begin to undestand the story of Scotland.
Doune Castle is a gem of a medieval castle in a delightful riverside spot with the added fascination of beeing the film set of Monty Python's Holy Grail. Borrow some coconut shells from the visitor centre and hop round the court yard pretending to conquer the castle on horseback, explore its secret passageways and climb to the top of its mighty towers for a magnificent bird's eye view of the surrounding area.
The lush and dense Trossachs forests, dotted with picturesque lakes, were the home of Scotland's famous Rob Roy who roamed the area to steal from the rich and provide for the poor. Loch Katrine, the biggest of the Trossachs lakes, is set amidst rugged hills and features as the romantic backdrop in Walter Scott's 19th century legends and poems. Here you have time for an easy stroll along the loch's shore to enjoy some of Scotland's spectacular and atmospheric Highland scenery or you could join a cruise on the Victorian steamship SS Walter Scott (optional, 45 minutes).
After lunch and en route to Glengoyne, we take a small detour to visit romantic Loch Lomond, the queen of Scottish lakes, for some breathtaking views of its island strewn beauty and the mountains of the southern Highlands.
Glengoyne Whisky Distillery is the grand finale of the day: one of Scoland's oldest makers of this very special honey coloured water offer an optional tour and a 'wee dram' for you to remember.

.Inveraray, pre-historic Kilmartin Valley, the West Coast.
- Visit the magnificent castle of the chiefs of the Campbell Clan
- Explore 5000 year old stone circles & burial sites at Kilmartin
- Scotland's island dotted West Coast & old Crinan Harbour
Highland scenery at its best: we drive along the high road and the bonny banks of this largest of freshwater stretches in Britian enjoying wide views across to the grandiose heights of Ben Lomond, the most southerly of the 'Munroes'.
From Tarbert the route takes us the short distance of 2 miles to the sea (which is where the Vikings hauled there longboats across to roam Loch Lomond) along the shores of Loch Long, the mountainous pass of 'Rest and be Thankful' and the banks of Loch Fyne, famous for its oysters. This tour is a revelation of the inaccessible and rugged terrain typical of the Highlands.
Inveraray - the magnificent 18th century Inverary Castle of the Duke of Argyll is a masterpiece of Scottish Georgian Architecture which is splendidly furnished and contains an interesting selection of trophies, memorabilia, documents and weaponry - and an excellent insight into Scottish history.
The Prehistoric centre of the region is Kilmartin Glen which, apart from its outstanding beauty is one of the richest archaeological landscapes in Scotland: neolithic standing stones, burial cairns, rock art, forts, duns and carved stones. Amoungst these is Dunadd Fort which is likely to have been a royal centre where Scotland's earliest kings were inaugurated.
A brief visit to Crinan with its 18th century harbour and canal is a gloriously beautiful spot from which to admire the intricate western coastline of Scotland.
